BankIowa’s new People Pay service helps eliminate the need for you to carry cash, use an ATM, or write a check when you need to pay someone. Using your online banking or BankIowa mobile app you can pay a babysitter, send funds to your kids away at college, or pay back a friend for lunch. Unlike many other financial institutions, we do not charge for using this service.
Email or Mobile Phone
Send funds with nothing more than an email address or mobile phone number. All you need is the email address or mobile phone number of the person you want to send money to. An alert will be sent to the recipient which will provide instructions to them on how to accept the funds. Their acceptance will trigger the transfer and funds will be deducted from your account.
Send to a Bank Account
You can send funds directly to a bank account by entering their routing number and account number of the person you are sending money to. The funds will be deducted from your account when the payment is sent.
Send to a PayPal Account
If the recipient has a PayPal account you can send funds directly to that account. Funds will be deducted from your account when the payment is sent.
Send a Check
People Pay will allow you to send funds to the recipient in the form of a paper check. The funds will be deducted from your account when the check clears.
How to get started
- Sign into your personal online banking account
- Click on Pay and Transfer towards the top right of your screen
- Click on People Pay
- View and accept the terms and conditions, then enroll
- Within 2 business days you will be contacted.
- Once approved you can send funds through People Pay using your online or mobile banking

People Pay is a service available in Personal Online Banking and Personal Mobile Banking only. Funds being sent must be going to person, businesses are not allowed. Individual and daily limit is set at $1000.00.
